ChatGPT now in ARMA 3

Tools based on artificial intelligence have recently become widely known. It is used for all kinds of tasks, and games are no exception. Examples are fan projects in Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord and Skyrim, as well as a similar initiative in ARMA 3, allowing players to communicate with NPC.

DCO GPT is a modification developed by Norwegian modders Yipman and Tally. The essence of the project is identical to the aforementioned modification of Inworld AI Calradia. Each NPC in ARMA 3 can have conversations with a player based on his "profile", using the popular GPT chat algorithm.

These data take into account civil status, rank, specialization, age, religion, faction, etc.D., as well as character traits. For example, an extrovert not only gives more extensive answers than an introvert, but also asks questions to support the conversation. NPC can also receive information about the current situation and know what task they were given and whether they or the player’s character were wounded.

Of course, the project is still at an early stage. At the moment, the modders have prepared about a thousand ready -made "profiles", and AI has a limited set of topics for conversation. The authors plan to add separate "Knowledge modules" For each side, the function of response to voice statements instead of the text (or threats, or even guidance of weapons), as well as more votes and ensure greater smoothness of the AI-Rechi.

The latter can be a key point, since the current speakers of NPC are unlikely to impress someone with their oratory talent. In fact, it can be argued that they would not have prevented the help of a speech therapist in order to stop clearly sharing each word. You should also not expect too much life in their affairs.

The creators know about the damp state of the project. At the moment, DCO GPT is rather the so -called evidence of the concept (Proof of Concept), and users clearly liked it. Modders primarily want to collect players’ reviews and look for people to help in the project (and a way to pay for their work).
