The presenter of the story Dragon Age claims that BioWare was “quietly offended” by his scriptwriters
The author of Dragon Age David Gader says that BioWare’s attitude towards their screenwriters has changed over time, and some people in the company have become "Quietly be offended" on them.
In the light of the ongoing strikes of the Guild of the Writers of America, the developer of the Games David Gader shared his opinion on how they relate to the writing of games in the industry. According to the former Bioware developer: "Writing is one of those disciplines that are constantly underestimated".
On his Twitter, Gader clarifies: "Even Bioware, which built her success on the reputation of a good story and characters, gradually turned from a company that highly appreciated its writers, into a company where we were. quietly offended, and dependence on an expensive story was considered "Albatros", restraining company".
"Perhaps this sounds like a heavy accusation, ”Gaider adds,“ but this is what I clearly felt until my departure in 2016. Suddenly, all responsible persons began to ask: "How to write less?". A good story simply appeared by the wave of a magic wand, and was not something, requiring support and priority". Throughout the entire time of work in BioWare, Gaider was most famous for his work on the series Dragon Age and Star Wars, but these comments seem especially relevant for Anthem, a multi-user science fiction game of the studio. Anthem, which was significantly different from the narrative games that made the name BioWare, became a mass failure, not being able to realize either the plot of a single game or its multi -user gameplay.
Heder is currently heading Summerfall, which has recently announced "Role musical" called Stray Gods. As for Bioware, the studio is still working on Dragon Age 4 (aka Dragon Age: Dreadwolf) and the new Mass Effect game, which we still call Mass Effect 5. We do not yet know the release date of any of these games, but who knows, maybe we will hear more news during Summer Games Fest next month?
